Conditions: overcast mid 40s breeze from the southeast
water temp 52.3

Micropterus and I headed out to Camp for about three hours to cash in on the typically excellent Fall action out there. Fishing was not as good as usual, but we still caught plenty of fish. We finished the day with probably 10-12 keeper and a couple shorts, not to mention a plethora Pike. A couple of the Pike were decent with Micropterus getting one probably around 30". We caught all of our fish on cranks between 3-8 FOW near the remaining green weed. Here's a pic of me holding up the three big fish of the day.

Forum: Camp Lake

Conditions: Sunny 60, calm
Water Temp: 59.1-61.0

I hit Camp for a couple hours after teaching to see if they are still munchin, and sure enough, located the fish a little deeper today than on Sat, I expect that was due to the sun and lack of wind. I caught all my fish in 6-8FOW on mid diving crankbaits. I threw a Trap for a bit and a Jerkbait with no success. In the two hours I was out I caught probably 10-12 keepers with three fish over 3 lbs. A great evening to be out fishing. It's only going to get better as the water cools a bit more.

Forum: Camp Lake

Conditions: Mostly cloudy, 50, light breeze from the SW
Water Temp: 57.0-58.6

Bassrat and I hit Loon with high hopes that were not fulfilled. We started cranking shallow where there should have been some great weeds, but alas the weeds are pretty much nonexistent, and the weeds that are there are brown and dying. So we moved up a little shallower and stuck a few fish around the lily pads before deciding to pull out and head to Camp. Hopefully the massive weed kill from this year will help the Spring fishing next year.

Forum: Loon Lake

Had the a.m. off work went fishin! Glad I did, they were chompin pretty good out there. 20-25 fish in 3 hours with the best 5 going around 16lbs. Most fish were caught on a crank or a frog in and around weeds/pads. Is that guy with the Bullet ever not out there???!!!
Forum: Loon Lake

Got done with work early, finished chores early, decided to GO FISHIN! Wasn't sure where to go, maybe Deep? Maybe the Chain? I did need some redemption after last night of no bites! Got halfway to the Chain and turned down Grass Lk. Rd. to go to Loon! After a heads up from Mr. Crankbait, I went out there with, well a crankbait! Tried some spots he told me about, but the fish I did see seemed slightly molested.... They were just coming up and swirling on it, not taking it. Heard lots of gillies poppin in the pads, so fished a froggy and got some action. "Ran" to the other side of the lake, and flipped my jiggy under the colorful dock and got a 3lber, fished the next X brace, another 3lber, fished the shallowest X brace, got 1 close to 5! Missed her the 1st time too! Why do I not bring my camera?? It would've been an ok day to have 1.... Got a mid 30's muskie as well... Fun few hours of fishing even though it was tough! Best 5 around 16lbs. Thanks for the heads up Mr. Crank!
Forum: Loon Lake

Deep lake 9/12

Figured this lake is closest to Deep... Fished a small tourney over there. Won with 5 @ 16 something lbs and a big fish close to 5. Tough fishing though! Only caught 7 all day. Some guys caught 20-30 fish, but they were all -12" and fishing shallow. The weedkill on this lake has seemingly made these fish more nomadic. I did my best in the thick fog before 8, which was great since no one saw me on my best spot! muhahaha.... Get em while they're hot!!! All fish came on a dropshot and a Storm swimbait.
Forum: Loon Lake

Fished the AC with a local hotshot. Tough bite! You were either on em or completely off em! Drop in water level hurt us big time. Don't know why they continue to drop it... 4 fish 6.88lbs. 12lbs 4 fish won it. Did manage a mid-upper 20's walleye though which was cool... Thought I had a 5lb+ bass until I got it up! All well, at least Team Sneaky didn't win it!
Forum: Fox Chain

Condition: overcast 70 light breeze from the W
Water temp 68.8-70.0

I headed out to Loon to see if fishing made a turn around since our disappointing spring we had out there. Sure enough, IT DID!!!! it took a bit to find the fish, but once I did, it was just like old times. I Started in the froggin the pads with no luck so then I moved out to some of my favorite weedline spots, but the weeds are almost nonexistent. They must have done quite the extensive weed kill on East Loon. After failing on the weedline I headed into an area that had sparse pads and some scattered residual weeds. I threw my trusty crank here and proceeded to "peel em" as Winnnebasschamp would say. No huge fish, but lots around 2-3lbs. I probably had 16lbs or so with my best 6. A great couple hours on the water.

Forum: Loon Lake

Conditions: Sunny and mid 70s Wind from the W at 10-12mph
Water temp: upper 70s

I headed out to Camp for a couple hours close to the "no-wake" time. I started in the pads because I had about an hour before the crazies got off the lake. I frogged and flipped jigs with no takers, not even a Northern. So I pulled out and jumped on to one of my favorite inside turns on the weedline. I pull up 5 nice keepers on a worm, a few shorts, and 6 northerns on cranks. I decided to call it a night and idled to the launch, but standard stuff, there was a weekend pleasure boater who had no idea how to put his boat on the trailer, so I tied on a buzzbait for some topwater action. I caught one really nice keeper and several northerns.

All in all a fun evening, I just wished I had fought the wakes and gone straight to the weedline. Oh well.
Tight Lines

Forum: Camp Lake
